Handy Sanitary District expects construction to begin on the much anticipated Badin Lake Sewer Project by July 1, 2009. The design for the sewer system has been completed by Hobbs, Upchurch and Associates and has tentative approval from the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Bids will be received for the project on April 9, at 2:00 PM at the Badin Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Once the bids are opened and reviewed, the District's Board will tentatively approve the lowest, responsible bidder at their meeting on April 15, 2009. The State will then review the bids and grant final approval to award.
The District held a meeting on February 28, 2009 at the I Don't Care Restaurant to provide information about the project. A copy of the letter mailed out about this meeting can be obtained by clicking HERE.

In August 2008 the District's board adopted a mandatory connection policy. This policy states that any residence that received water service from the District as of November 30, 2005 and is within 1,000 feet of the low pressure main must connect to the sewer system. A copy of this policy may be obtained by clicking HERE.
The District Board has established July 1, 2009 as the deadline for paying the reduced tap fee of $3,500. If this fee is not paid by June 30, then the tap fee will increase to $7,500. If you would like to pay your tap fee and sign up for service, please fill out this FORM and return it to the District at PO Box 987, Denton, NC 27239. If you have any questions about this form or the sewer project, please contact us at 336-859-2553.
